The Edward Foundation raised a record $211,000 during its 19th annual Golf Outing on July 16 at Cress Creek Country Club in Naperville.
Eddie Olczyk, newly elected to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, was the celebrity guest for the second year in a row. Olczyk is a former NHL player and coach, and current Chicago Blackhawks and NBC Sports television analyst.
Almost 200 golfers took part in the event and contributed funds through sponsorships, donations, a raffle, betting holes and the purchase of mulligans. The winning team included Scott Day, Kelly Kegan, Bill Kottmann and Geoff Roehll.
The Charity Golf Outing is one of the major fundraisers of the year for the foundation. The funds raised will support Edward Hospital’s free health and wellness screenings and programs, medical technologies, centers of excellence like Edward Heart Hospital and Edward Cancer Center, and capital projects like the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
The foundation’s next major event and fundraiser, the 22nd annual gala The Big Gig: Bella Italia, will be Oct. 13 at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge. A portion of the proceeds will support the expansion of Linden Oaks, Edward’s behavioral health facility. To register, visit https://edward.ejoinme.org.
