Why join the Chamber? For prosperity and a business voice

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry is seeking new members. The Chamber will launch its membership drive with two informational sessions, Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 8. The membership drive will run through May 18.

"This is a Chamber Board of Directors driven effort," said Mike Paone, Director of Member Services. "We have divided the board into teams, to introduce a little friendly competition into our membership drive this year."

Each team is headed by a captain and will go out into the community to educate businesses about the services, opportunities, programs, events, and other benefits of Chamber membership.

The introductory sessions will kick off the drive, and then the 30-plus members will go out and talk with clients, vendors, suppliers and others about the chamber. The deadline to turn in new member applications is noon on Friday, May 18.

The Chamber is offering incentives to both current members and new members. Some new members incentives include: either a free e-mail blast or free insert into a Chamber mailing; giving a free Excel file of the membership database; an opportunity to have information on their business included in the Resident Greeter program for one month; or to feature the business on either a video interview, or a print story on the new Herald News website.

Why should Joliet region businesses strongly consider Chamber membership? In 1914 the Chamber was incorporated to serve as the unifying voice for the improvement of the entire business community. Today, we continue to work behind the scenes on business issues while providing opportunities for our members to take advantage of in order to ensure a strong business community. These opportunities are in the areas of advocacy, building business relationships through various networking functions, and offering programs for members to display and communicate their products and services. Members will find that they can grow their business significantly by utilizing the various Chamber programs, events and services.

"Plus, all new members will be entered into a raffle for a car detailing, golf foursome, or other great prizes," Paone said. "And there will be prizes for the highest scoring team in recruiting new members!"
