Volunteers needed for New Orleans North event on June 8
The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help with the upcoming New Orleans North event taking place in downtown Joliet on June 8.
The Chamber needs volunteers to work at the gate of the event during two different time slots. The first shift is from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. The second shift is from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Volunteers are also needed to help at the event with beer tickets, the beer tent, the pop tent and also with security. There are three time slots available for each volunteer opportunity. The first shift is from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The second shift is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The third shift is from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
This Chamber hosted event will offer adults age 21 and older a taste of the “Big Easy” by transforming the street into New Orleans North. From 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on June 8, Chicago Street from Jefferson to Clinton will be closed in downtown Joliet.
On the street, there will be a beer garden in addition to local food vendors selling Cajun-themed food. Also at the event, two bands will play blues and New Orleans inspired music. The “Chicago Blues Angels” will perform first from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Next, the band “T-Bird Huck” will perform from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Ample parking for the event will be provided at nearby parking decks, the Will County Court House parking lot, and also through street parking.
The corporate sponsor for New Orleans North is the D’Arcy Automobile dealership. The co-chairpersons for the event are Jeff Thompson of Northern Insurance and Tom Grotovsky of R. Berti Building Solutions.
