Enroll in the Chamber’s Community Leadership School
The Community Leadership School, sponsored by the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce, is an excellent way to acquire leadership skills, as well as develop valuable connections in the business, education and social communities in the area.

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 35th annual Community Leadership School (CLS) beginning on Thursday, Sept. 6.
The mission of CLS is to develop leadership excellence within members of the community. The CLS program is designed to develop community leadership skills, encourage community involvement, and to provide the opportunity to develop a valuable network of community resources.
CLS participants will attend sessions every Thursday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The first session is on Sept. 6, and the final session will take place on Nov. 14. Each session will meet at a different location throughout Joliet as a way to provide an additional opportunity to become familiar with the local business community. Locations will be announced in the confirmation packet provided to all enrollees. At the end of the 11-week period, a graduation banquet will be held on Nov. 14. At the banquet, graduates will receive a Community Leadership School certificate.
Participants in the program will hear from and interact with guest speakers from area business, government, education, labor and community-based organizations to discuss a variety of topics. Additionally, participants will go on a field trip to tour various local and unique points of interest. As a part of CLS, participants are also required to partake in an in-depth team research project. The project will require additional time out of class. Each team will present their group projects at the final meeting session.
The enrollment fee is $295 per student for Joliet Chamber members, and $395 per student for non-members. The fee includes CLS workbooks and one ticket to the graduation banquet. The class size is limited to 40 students, so early enrollment is advised. The application deadline is Friday, Aug. 17.
