Joseph Carr started his early career as a sommelier and then transitioned into the corporate role as a wine executive. While the corporate world wasn’t to his liking, he decided to produce his own brand of wines with a close network of growers who provided him with great fruit. In 2005 Joseph Carr Winery was founded in Carneros, Calif
While Carr had been influenced by the wines from Bordeaux, France throughout his career, he also had a keen sense of the California style. His ambition was to craft classic wines that were balanced, approachable and food friendly, while also being affordable. The inspiration for Josh Cellars was centered around his admiration for his father, who was known by his close friends as Josh.
The grapes for this Cabernet are sourced from organically grown and sustainably farmed vineyards in the Red Hills of Lake County, California. Northeast of Sonoma, nearing the peak of the mountain ranges, the red, rocky volcanic soils forms the personality for these cool climate grapes. This isn’t a traditional red blend, but instead 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon that has dazzling layers of silky red currant fruit, red licorice and pomegranate. This wine has finely tapered edges and a satiny soft entry that continues through the finish.
