The Geek Squad Summer Academy, now in its 6th year, is a community-supported tech camp during which local Geek Squad Agents engage young people in a multi-day experience teaching them to use technology to spark their inner creativity and nurture innovation.

On Aug. 8 and 9, the Geek Squad Summer Academy is coming to Chicago to partner with the Center of Higher Development to empower Chicago middle- and high-school level girls and boys with the tech know-how to spark creativity and innovation.

Students will participate in camp sessions that feature customized modules that dive deep into computers, smart phones, MP3 players and other devices so students literally get to know how the technology they use every day works from the inside out.

"Geek Squad Summer Academy is a truly one-of-a-kind experience for young people," said Moira Hardek, founder and senior manager of Geek Squad Summer Academy. "Not only do we bring know-how to kids in their communities, but also we try to nurture them to be more creative and inspire them to innovate. Delivering this hands-on experience is what makes the program memorable for the kids and so very rewarding for those of us with Geek Squad who are fortunate to participate."

The Chicago Geek Squad Summer Academy will take place at Lakegrove - Magic Johnson Empowerment Center on Wednesday, Aug. 8 and Thurs., August 9 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Geek Squad Summer Academy's 2012 season kicked off on June 10th and will have visited 40 cities from coast to coast by the end of August when the camp concludes.
