Just in time for Valentine's - it's 'condom-ology'
Trojan's Safe Rides program is designed to make sure consumers know there is nothing romantic about un-safe sex.
Because it's love week, the makers of Trojan condoms are driving home the need for safe sex with a combination of free cab rides and free condoms in New York City.
The company is celebrating Condom Awareness Week by deploying a fleet of Trojan Safe Ride taxis on Feb. 14 and 15 in the Big Apple. Those who opt for a free ride can test their sexual health IQ by playing a condom trivia game during their trip and winning Trojan prizes.
"While using a condom is easy, it is important that people have the facts to ensure they are using them consistently and correctly, and that we continue to dispel the myths associated with condom usage," said Bruce Weiss, vice president of marketing for Trojan. "The Trojan Safe Rides serve as a ‘vehicle' to get the facts out in a fun and engaging way."
Trojan hopes consumers elsewhere will also get in on the act by visiting a new "Condomology" website, www.FactsAboutCondoms.com, sponsored in conjunction with the American Sexual Health Association.
The website also offers a video on the evolution of the condom, from its humble beginnings in ancient Egypt to the innovations of present day. Experts from the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University, Museum of Sex, Dittrick Medical History Center, ASHA and Trojan take a peek beneath the sheets on how condoms have impacted American history.
