Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating (SSHE), a leading freshly prepared meal replacement company in the country, kicks off its Lake and Porter Counties weight loss contest called Seattle Sutton’s 2014 Slim Down.
For 15 weeks, 10 chosen contestants will compete for prizes and improve their health by making a positive lifestyle change. Seattle Sutton’s 2014 Slim Down Contest is the first of its kind for Northwest Indiana.
To date, SSHE has helped 39 people shed 1,722 pounds through its previous four contests. SSHE had its first successful weight loss contest for the Chicago area in 2010, when 10 contestants lost a total of 372 pounds in 14 weeks. In 2012, nine LaSalle County residents lost a total of 510 pounds in 15 weeks. And, in the summer of 2012, 10 DuPage County contestants lost 355 pounds in 15 weeks. In 2013, 10 Peoria-Tri County residents lost a combined weight of 485 pounds in 15 weeks.
“I am so happy to help these 10 finalists begin a new, healthier lifestyle through providing them with our freshly prepared, portion and calorie-controlled meals,” said Seattle Sutton, RN, BSN, Founder of Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.
The family-owned company based in Ottawa, Ill., is headed by Sutton, who founded the company in hopes of helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health by providing the healthiest meals possible. The company has never veered off the mission Sutton created since it began in 1985. Since the company’s inception, the company has prepared and provided clients coast-to-coast with more than 80 million meals to date.
The contest is a 15-week weight loss challenge that began Jan. 13 and concludes April 28 and will provide the chosen contestants with the 1,200-calorie SSHE meal plan. Meals included in the contest are every breakfast, lunch and dinner for the contestants (21 meals per week), a total of 315 meals in all, for the entire contest. Contestants are to add two glasses of fat-free (skim) milk each day and a minimum of eight glasses of water per day.
The contestant who loses the most weight based on percentage of body weight will be heading to Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Riviera Maya, Mexico, with a guest courtesy of Apple Vacations, valued at $2,500. Second place prize will win $1,000 cash from Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating. Third place prize will win couples spa treatments package at the Serendipity Province Spa, valued at $540.
Contestants also will have blood lab work completed, once at the beginning of the contest and once at the end, to measure cholesterol, triglycerides and fasting blood sugar, as well have their blood pressure taken. Lab services are free as part of the contest, provided by In The Field Health Services. Contestants will be weighed each week at their Lake and Porter Counties distributor locations when they pick up their SSHE meals.
