Little Company of Mary’s Outpatient Care Center mammography suite features a fully digital mammography unit to ensure the highest quality screenings and Computerized Aided Detection (CAD), which is special software designed to help the radiologist detect abnormalities. Additionally, the mammography unit provides a gentle approach to the test using softer, more flexible technology for the comfort of patients. The mammography suite at the Outpatient Care Center offers an all-female team of mammography technologists that work with Little Company of Mary’s team of breast health specialists, surgeons, radiation, and medical oncologists and counselors.

The American Cancer Society recommends clinical breast examinations at least every three years and routine breast exams performed at home are encouraged for women ages 20 to 39. Women over the age of 40 should have annual mammograms, annual clinical breast examinations and perform routine breast exams at home.

Most doctors feel that early detection tests for breast cancer save many thousands of lives each year. Following the American Cancer Society’s guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer improves the chances that breast cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage and treated successfully.
