As part of groundbreaking and donor appreciation event at Valley West Community Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 13, KishHealth Foundation board member, Dr. Ann West, a Sandwich obstetrician and gynecologist and Valley West chief of staff, announced the first major gift to the annual Heart of the Hospital campaign: $50,000 from the Valley West Auxiliary.
"I am thrilled to announce that our first major gift is from the Valley West Auxiliary," Dr. West said. "The Auxiliary continues to demonstrate amazing commitment to the hospital, and this is no exception. The check was presented to the Health Foundation at the Board's last meeting."
"We're very excited to be able to do this," said Ellen Faulk, Valley West Auxiliary president. "It is just another example of our dedication and commitment to the facility and to the community."
The Valley West Heart of the Hospital annual giving fund began in 2004. To date, more than $425,000 has been raised to help provide Valley West with new equipment and technology. This year's campaign will be a specifically focused effort to raise money for the new patient wing. The new wing will include an expanded gift shop, which will be named in the Auxiliary's honor.
Donations to Heart of the Hospital have allowed Valley West Community Hospital to keep pace with medical advances. Many projects and pieces of equipment have been funded by the Heart of the Hospital campaign over the last seven years including HUGS, an infant monitoring system in Maternity Suites and new diagnostic ultrasound system in the diagnostic imaging department, primarily used for cardiac imaging and vascular studies.
