“Not everybody downsizes ... by far not everybody downsizes” says Margaret Wylde, president of Promatura, a senior-focused research and consulting firm that surveyed 6,300 households of people over 45 who had either recently moved or were planning to move.

Landmark Architectural Shingles deliver the look of cottage-style weathered wood roofing, but carry a 30-year warranty. Pella windows and doors are energy efficient.

Cast iron drops between first and second levels insulate sound between floors. Natural, pre-stained cedar siding in the owner’s choice of colors and finish requires little maintenance.
