WENDY CITY MOM: the parenting column

The recognizable and much-loved Kohler brand is something that folks can truly depend on and the soothing services at Kohler Waters Spa in Burr Ridge are no different.

“We opened in April of 2008; It is our first venture into the day spa market,” said director of Kohler Waters Spa and Wellness, Jean Kolb. “It is larger than a typical day spa with over 10,500 square feet — due in large part to the Circle of Tranquility water relaxation area, which features a 25 foot whirlpool with an eight foot waterfall, a steam room, a sauna, an eight foot deep cool plunge pool and specialty showers.”

Deserved repose begins the moment you let the massaging warm-watered jets hit your back and feet and it continues through each one of the unique stand-up showers, designed to target different areas of your body for ultimate relaxation. By the time you’re finished sweating it out in the steam or sauna rooms your muscles and mindset will be ready for any spa treatment.

“You can come for more than just a massage or facial,” said Kolb. “You can come early or stay for hours afterward and enjoy the wonderful water amenities.”

When you arrive, you’ll be amiably greeted by a spa professional — he or she will then show you around and make sure that you’re comfortable.

“We hire for compassion and a desire to serve and train with technical skills,” said Kolb. “Even though Forbes does not rate day spas, we train our team in Burr Ridge with the same five-star standards of our flagship property in Kohler. We want them to really connect with each and every guest; they do a terrific job.”

Forbes Travel Guide awarded the 2013 Five-Star Award to The Kohler Waters Spa, located next to The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Why indulge in a spa experience?

Beyond simply feeling refreshed and invigorated, spa treatments help us manage our stress and anxiety. Advocate for your health and wellbeing by taking pleasure in a restorative stone massage, infused with peppermint and cinnamon oil; enjoy a Signature Massage, which begins with a warm foot bath and a scalp massage or treat yourself to a toning head-to-toe body and mini facial with beneficial nectar oil. Exclusive music and hollyhock scents enrich all treatments.

“We do not treat ourselves enough or take as good of care of ourselves as we should,” said Kolb. “These services are designed not only to help us relax and de-stress, but also they provide therapeutic benefits. You will have beautiful skin due to the exfoliation in the treatments and moisturizer to smooth the skin.”
