Ivy Tech offers a diversity of health care training
It is estimated that there are over 44,000 persons employed in the health care industry in Northwest Indiana. This industry is now the largest employment base in the region, and Ivy Tech stands ready to serve its workforce needs as the largest provider of work-force training.
Many people don’t realize you don’t have to be a nurse, doctor or other hands-on patient care professional to work in the health industry. In addition to our fine academic programs in the School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences, Ivy Tech Community College Northwest has established The Institute for Health Education and Training Services (IHETS). The training and education emphasis will expand beyond the traditional patient-care professions. We will provide career training and enhancement for any number of professions and careers interested in utilizing their skills in a health setting — including business operations, information technology, hospitality, industrial maintenance, engineering and other support services.
Ivy Tech also offers online training options for careers in medical transcription, medical coding and billing, or as pharmacy technicians, medical administrative assistants, or in health information technology.
With over 10,000 students, Ivy Tech Community College Northwest plays an important role in strengthening the future of the region by increasing the collaboration between the college and employers.
