Newstar Jewelers offers latest styles, top service

Newstar Jewelers, founded in 1897 in Joliet, strives to deliver quality and exceptional service to the company’s clients. Owners Dan and Ellen Haake work hard to stay abreast of new technology in their products and in their repair department.

Newstar was founded on the concept of selling the best in fine jewelry at affordable pricing, and backing sales with service to match, whether it’s purchasing that most important piece, or having a family heirloom repaired.

Newstar’s inventory includes world-class designers such as Simon G., Martin Flyer, Tacori, Roberto Coin and Kabana, combined with a huge collection of ideal-cut loose diamonds. In an effort to sell at the lowest possible prices, Newstar has secured a direct avenue to a sight-holder, enabling it to eliminate the wholesale markup.

Every polished Forevermark diamond starts out as an ancient mineral that is sourced from only a handful of selected mines. Newstar has been selected as this area’s exclusive distributor of this exceptional brand, with the Forevermark Promise that each diamond is beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced. Newstar features the “Center of My Universe” collection.

Newstar also has a wonderful selection of Chamilia beads. These pieces have price points starting at under $100. You can create one-of-a-kind jewelry with dazzling beads of sterling silver, 14k gold, Swarovski crystal, colored stones, Italian Murano glass and the exclusive Disney collection.

Newstar has positioned itself as a leader in the Swiss watch business, featuring Breitling, Bulova, Raymond Weil, Ebel, Victorinox Swiss Army, Movado and ESQ. Newstar is also a part of the limited distribution of the new Movado bold watches, with high fashion price points starting at $250 to $895. As authorized dealers, Newstar provides factory and outsource service on virtually any wristwatch, while bracelet adjustments, strap replacements and batteries are installed while you wait.

Newstar’s website,, had been a strictly educational site, but in 2010 it expanded to include an online shopping experience. This enables Newstar to discount and sell any watch or designer jewelry that has been discontinued, and to sell some custom pieces with easy payments through PayPal for customers.

In the shop, the Starweld laser offers an alternative to traditional torch soldering. The laser allows for prongs or shanks of rings to be repaired without the need for removing and resetting precious stones. Repairs on stainless steel and titanium jewelry, eyeglasses and watches is now possible.

“The laser welder is recognized in the industry as the best method for most jewelry repairs,” said Dan Haake. This technology allows the experts at Newstar to perform the most complicated manufacture or delicate repair of all types of fine jewelry. From wax to finished-piece custom work and one-of-a-kind design is available to all customers as well.
