UIndy upends Lewis women's basketball, 82-59, in GLVC championship rematch

Romeoville, Ill. - Thursday night's rematch of the 2011 Great Lakes Valley Conference women's basketball championship was decided quickly as Indianapolis used a 28-11 run to close out the first half en route to the 82-59 GLVC win over Lewis University at Neil Carey Arena.

UIndy junior guard Kristin Turner finished with a game-high 25 points on 11-for-22 shooting. Greyhounds junior forward Sydney Weinert added 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting, while Nickole Gonser and Katy McIntosh each posted 13 points in the win.
As a team, Indianapolis shot a blistering 56.1% (32-for-57) from the field, including eight three-pointers.
With the victory, Indianapolis improves to 14-4 on the campaign and 8-2 in GLVC play, while the host Flyers are now 2-8 on the season and 4-14 in conference action.
Lewis freshman guard Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) topped the Flyers with 13 points, followed by 11 points apiece from freshman forward Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) and senior guard Madeline Kish (Oak Forest, Ill./Sandburg/Eastern Illinois) in the loss. Senior Devon Carbaugh (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.
Lewis did beat Indianapolis on the boards, as they grabbed 35 rebounds, including 14 offensive caroms, to the Greyhounds' 31.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 28), as they head to Rensselaer, Ind., to square off with Saint Joseph's for a 1 p.m. (CST) tip-off.
