Men's swimming shines in distance events against Lincoln during Lewis' Senior Night

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis men's swimming won four events during the Flyers' Senior Night meet with Lincoln College on Friday evening at the Lewis Pool. Lincoln won the dual meet 110-84.

Junior Brandon Drogemuller (Hollister, Calif./San Benito) pulled in a 9:47.19 time in the 1000 freestyle, good for a first place performance. Sophomore Derick Carlson (Norridge, Ill./St. Patrick) touched first in the 200 freestyle (1:46.39) and the 500 freestyle (4:50.08). Freshman Edwin Welsh (Madison, Miss./Galena) won the 200 butterfly in 2:04.25.

"We had some good swims on our part and I'm pretty pleased with most of (the meet)," head coach Roger Karns said. "Our distance guys did really well and it bodes well as we come into our GLIAC meet in a week and a half."

Senior Chris Bonavolanto (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg/Lincoln) was honored as part of Senior Night. He finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (50.96) and the 50 freestyle (23.32) while swimming the second leg of Lewis' second place finish in the 200 medley relay.

Lewis travels to Indianapolis on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET meet with the Greyhounds.
