Academy of Art walks off with a 4-2 win over Lewis softball

Las Vegas, Nev. - Academy of Art shortstop Genna Allen connected for a walk-off, two-out, two-run home run to push the Urban Knights to the 4-2 non-conference win over the Lewis University softball team at the Montana State-Billings Desert Stinger Tournament at Majestic Park on Friday (Feb. 10 evening.

Allen and ART U catcher Andrea Hanchey combined for all four Urban Knight RBI, as Hanchey went 2-for-3 with two RBI, including a solo home run.
Lewis freshman pitcher Ali Brems (Kenosha, Wis./Harborside) took the loss for the Flyers, as she allowed four runs and nine hits, while striking out six batters in 6.2 innings of work.
With the victory, Academy of Art improves to 1-5 on the season, while the Flyers are now 0-2 on the campaign.
Brems (0-1) led the Flyers offensively at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a RBI, while senior catcher Mary Giancarlo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) also collected a pair of base knocks. Lewis sophomore Alyssa Moseley (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean) added a pinch hit, solo home run in the top of the sixth inning.
ART U pitcher Haily MacDonald (1-0) earned the relief win, as she gave up one run and struck out two batters in two innings of work for the Urban Knights.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 11), as the Flyers battle Simon Fraser for a 4:30 p.m. (PST) first pitch.
