Reese finished eighth in the 100 butterfly thanks to a 58.86 finish in the finals. Her 58.36 time in the preliminaries will stand as the new Lewis school record. She held the previous best time for a Flyer with a 58.63 time in the 2010 GLIAC Championships.
"Catie has been nursing a sore shoulder and working on her kick," Lewis head coach Roger Karns said. "She was outstanding today and came through with a school record."
Senior Ashley Kryger (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) finished 13th in the 200 freestyle (1:56.21). Freshman Aubrey Miller (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) had a 14th place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:00.10).
Lewis had a pair earn points in the 400 IM. Sophomore Caitlyn Scheirer (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) was 11th with a time of 4:39.57. Freshman Katie Hallenbeck (Plano, Ill./Plano) took 14th, stopping the clock in 4:44.23.
"Today was our best day of the GLIAC meet so far," Karns said. "We swam really well and had some huge time drops off our entry times. I'm extremely pleased with how we've performed."
The Flyers are in eighth place with 127 points.
"We have one more day to go and I'm excited about our chances at perhaps a few more records," Karns said."
The four-day meet closes on Saturday.
