Women's tennis turns in dominating 8-1 performance at Lake Superior State

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - The Lewis University women's tennis team left no doubt on Sunday (Feb. 18) as four Flyers earned two wins on their way to the 8-1 regional victory over Lake Superior State at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

"The ladies did a great job adjusting to the fast courts," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "I thought we turned in a solid, all-around performance today in both singles and doubles."
With the win, Lewis improves to 4-1 on the season, while the host Lakers are now 13-8.
Lewis sophomore Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win over Adrienne DiVito at No. 1 singles. Lanstiak would also team with fellow countrywoman Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) for the 8-2 win over DiVito and Tess Marton at No. 1 doubles. Kranczicki added a 6-2, 6-4 singles win over Erin Anderson-Scott at No. 2.
Flyer senior Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) captured two victories, including a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kaitlynn Hutchinson at No. 4 singles. She also teamed up with senior Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) for the 8-3 win over Anderson-Scott and Hutchinson at No. 2 doubles. Hargrove took home a default victory over Marton at No. 3 singles.
Lewis freshman Brianna Markgraf (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) was triumphant at No. 5 singles, with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Holly Daniel. Flyer sophomore Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) wrapped up the singles sweep for Lewis with a 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 come-from-behind win over Meagan Grey at No. 6.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 25), as they take on William Jewell in the opening match of the NAC Invite, hosted by Saint Joseph's, in Michigan City, Ind. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
