Men's volleyball hosts Ohio State on Thursday

No. 7 Lewis men's volleyball (10-3, 2-1 MIVA) hosts defending National Collegiate Champion No. 8 Ohio State (11-4, 2-0 MIVA) on Thursday (Feb. 23) at Neil Carey Arena. The match will be aired live on Lakeshore Public Television. The match has been declared a "Black Out" and fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.

LAST TIME OUT - The Flyers took down George Mason 3-2 (25-18, 25-27, 23-25, 25-16, 15-7) on Saturday, Feb. 18. Jay Petty finished with a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs. Aaron Flick totaled a double-double of 13 kills and 10 blocks.
LAST TIME WE MET - Ohio State ended Lewis' 2011 season by defeating the Flyers 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18) in the MIVA Tournament Semifinals on April 27. It was Lewis' second loss at Ohio State in 2011 after losing in the regular season on March 4.
LAST TIME WE MET IN ROMEOVILLE - Lewis gave Ohio State their only MIVA loss last season 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21) on April 2, 2011. The Flyers dominated the match late as they never trailed in the final two sets. It would be Ohio State's final loss of the season. The Buckeyes went on to win the MIVA Tournament and the 2011 National Collegiate Championship.
SETTING THE TABLE - In MIVA matches only, sophomore BJ Boldog leads the conference in assists with 11.73 per set.
WE PLAY THE HITS - Lewis leads the MIVA in hitting percentage in overall matches (.309) and MIVA matches (.343).
SEASON BEST - Aaron Flick's .706 hitting percentage and 10 blocks at George Mason on Saturday were single match highs for Lewis this season.
I WOULD WALK 5,000 MILES (FOR A WIN) - Lewis has wins in Honolulu, Hawaii (over Hawaii and Springfield) and Newark, N.J. (over NJIT) this year. Those two locales are separated by 4,958 miles.
LIGHTS, CAMERA, LAKESHORE - The Flyers' next home game on Lakeshore Public Television will be April 6 against Ball State at 7 p.m.
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY - Four Flyers have siblings playing collegiate sports:

THE TRIFECTA - Lewis has wins over Penn State, Hawaii and Pepperdine this season. The last time Lewis defeated Penn State and two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) schools was 2000 when the Flyers topped Stanford, San Diego State and Cal. State Northridge in addition to Penn State.
SIX FOR FLYERS - Six Flyers (Ian Karbiener, Eric Varney, Roberto Torres-Davis, Matt Gallik, Aaron Flick, Jay Petty) have earned MIVA Player of the Week honors in their careers.
