As every bride and groom is unique, so too is their vision of what constitutes a dream wedding.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago/Alsip can help fulfill that dream with customized weddings and receptions, whether they’re elegant affairs with an upscale menu and signature drinks, a fun event with a specific theme or a low-key, informal occasion with hors d’oeuvres and drinks only.
“We focus so much on individualized customization,” said Julie Popovic, director of catering sales.
She said the venue works with a wide variety of brides and grooms who each have their own vision of how they want their wedding to be.
“Some are more traditional; others are more casual, they’d rather have hors d’oeuvres than a sit-down dinner,” Popovic said. “We pride ourselves on elegant sophistication.”
She said wedding sales manager Jessica Torres is the couple’s main contact person from the beginning of the planning process until the reception is over. Torres can show couples samples of what DoubleTree by Hilton has created for other brides and grooms, or can work with
the couple to incorporate their own ideas into the reception.
“She can meet with the couples as much as they like, based on their needs,” Popovic said.
“Our job is to do all the work and take the stress away from the couple.”
Extensive menu choices
At one meeting the bride and groom will have an intimate tasting of various food selections available with Torres and the executive chef at DoubleTree’s Allgauer’s restaurant on hand to help them create a customized menu. Popovic said couples choose what foods they want to taste in advance.
DoubleTree by Hilton’s extensive menu offering
includes upscale selections such as crab-crusted tilapia with lobster sauce or tilapia with chipotle sauce, black beans and salsa as a main dish and Belgian endive with herbed Boursin cheese as an appetizer, Popovic said.
Among the other choices for main entrée are blue cheese or grain mustard crusted New York strip and pork roulade with dried fruit stuffing and pork gravy, according to the hotel’s website, alsipdoubletree.com. Two other examples of appetizers are prosciutto wrapped melon and sun-dried tomato, artichoke and goat cheese crostini.
Couples can have fun with dessert, putting a twist on the traditional tiered wedding cake.
“They can do cupcakes or have a special themed cake. Anything they have in mind we’ll try to accommodate,” Popovic said.
Fresh seasonal fruits, an assortment of house-made cookies or petite pastries and truffles are some additional sweets that couples can offer their guests, according to the website.
Signature drinks are another way for brides and groom to be creative and showcase their personality.
“This is a way to tie in a certain theme, the bride and groom’s favorite concoction, or a drink from their favorite vacation spot. We’ll try to accommodate any special request for both food and drink,” Popovic said.
Other custom options offered by DoubleTree by Hilton include:
Custom event décor, including different colored fabrics, canopies and backdrops, which create an elegant, streamlined look.
Illuminated pillars to highlight aisles for on-site wedding ceremonies.
High-end hors d’oeuvres that can be hand-delivered to guests by wait staff, creating an upscale ambiance.
Popovic said the venue has three reception rooms, including a large room that can accommodate up to 500 guests and a smaller, more intimate room. It also provides overnight accommodations for
She said prices can vary greatly, depending on the couple’s choices and number of guests.
