Drive around the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, and you're bound to see multiple projects by Valenti Builders. From the total revitalization of downtown Park Ridge and the Northbrook Corporate Center on the Edens to St. Francis Xavier Ward School at Old St. Pat's in Chicago, Valenti Builders has had a hand in constructing many buildings throughout the area during the past 75 years.
Joseph E. Valenti Sr., the son of immigrants, started the company in 1938 while he was attending DePaul University. At the age of 21, he bought a residential lot on Roscoe Street in the city's west side, built a home and sold it for a profit of $270. This modest beginning helped launch a company that has become one of Chicagoland's respected general contractors.
By 1948, the company's reputation had been established and Joe Valenti branched into developing subdivisions, focusing on building quality affordable ranch and split-level homes in Chicago and the suburbs meeting the demand for WWII housing. Throughout the years, the company continued to expand into non-residential markets with office buildings, recreation centers, churches, corporate headquarters, health care, financial and retail projects.
Valenti Builders is in its third generation as a family-owned and operated firm. As a leading organization in Chicagoland, the company invests significant capital back into the business each year to recruit the most talented construction professionals in the market, while continuing to nurture and grow their current staff to be their best.
"At the end of the day, a company is its people," said Jim Valenti, president. "Our people have ownership of their responsibilities and live by the highest standards of excellence and ethics. If you have a whole group buying into an enduring philosophy, it will show in your end product and your customers are going to feel it. That is what makes you successful."
The entire Valenti Builders team has proven its ability to stand the test of time due to its quality work and determination that only comes from those who are truly passionate about their work. During the recent economic recessions, Valenti relied upon its founding values, according to Valenti.
"We reinforced our philosophy of treating our client's money as our own and continued to help owners identify where finite capital should be deployed in order to address priorities," he noted. "This is an enduring value and a tenet we live by ... in good times and bad. We approach every job as a partnership."
By pairing new building technologies with professional employees at the cutting-edge of its field, Valenti Builders has remained ahead of its time. The company embraces green building practices and has a completed multiple LEED certified projects, including alternative energy systems, such as geothermal HVAC. By using Building Information Modeling, or BIM, the company can detect potential conflicts before construction and are therefore consistently meeting or exceeding their clients' needs and expectations. This has helped the company build a diverse commercial portfolio of projects, and a number of repeat clients over the years.
Valenti Builders has a strong history of standing behind the company motto of The Right Partner by providing each client with quality work, honesty and integrity from project conception to completion.
"Valenti is very proud of our history and very grateful for the continued loyalty of our clients," added Valenti. "Successfully managing and completing significant projects for our clients is a service we have delivered for 75 years. We look forward to the next 75."
