Welcome to the annual Neighbors’ Choice Awards, a listing of the best businesses in the region, according to you, the Post-Tribune readers — whether it’s your favorite place for pizza, to bank or to buy your groceries or a new car.

Neighbors’ Choice Awards is an annual ballot conducted by the Post-Tribune that includes the best of more than 50 consumer categories. Readers were able to vote both in print and online over a period of time. The votes were tabulated and the winners are announced in this section.

Some are repeat winners and long-time region businesses; others are new to the list.

“What makes the Post-Tribune’s Neighbors’ Choice Awards unique from those in other newspapers is that our responses are unsolicited and purely come from our readers with no interference from the Post-Tribune. We’re not prompting people on who to choose,” Post-Tribune advertising

manager Rich Cains said.

Cains said Neighbors’ Choice Awards is popular with both the readers and area businesses.

“We’ve been having these awards for more than 10 years and we always get a huge response from our readers,” Cains said.

In addition to being listed in this special section, the winners get a Neighbors’ Choice Awards sticker to place on their business window or door. Cains said the winners like having the sticker as a means to tout their accomplishment.

“It gives them a sense of pride. They can let everyone know they’re identified as an exceptional business in the area by the people themselves,” he said.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to our readers who cast their votes.
