In one of her greatest hits, Olivia Newton-John tells the tale of a heartbreaker, but surely she will not leave fans brokenhearted at Northalsted Market Days in Lakeview on Aug. 11-12.

Newton-John and the pop duo Karmin, who performed on Saturday Night Live in April, promise to bestow their hits, as they headline the 31st installment of the two-day street festival.

"This is a premier year for the acts that we have secured," said Jennifer Gordon, spokesperson for the Northalsted Business Alliance. "We always strive to put together a fun, very diverse entertainment lineup. This year we've really hit a huge homerun."

In addition to Newton-John and Karmin, Market Days will also feature The Pointer Sisters and Sheena Eaton.

More than 100,000 attendees are expected during the two-day event, which covers seven city blocks on Halsted Street, from Belmont Street to just past Addison Street.

Market Days offers a little bit for everyone with more than 40 acts performing on three different stages and more than 400 food and arts and crafts vendors throughout the weekend.

The Rivers Casino North Stage, the Roscoe Stage and Belmont Stage will be filled with high-energy acts all day long. Those looking for a more low-key experience can head over to the Jazz Stage to see local acts such as Red Hot Riot, Soulio and Stache.

Gordon said the largest two-day fest in the Midwest has plenty to offer besides the music, but this year the acts are second to none.

"The most exciting thing is the entertainment lineup this year," Gordon said. "We are now just hoping for good weather and a good time."
