Antioch’s Taste of Summer Festival celebrates its 21st year

Antioch’s Taste of Summer offers food, entertainment, a carnival, sidewalk sales and many other activities that make up a great four-day family fun festival, July 14 through July 17. Gather your family and friends, and head to Antioch for great fun. Enjoy strolling through Antioch’s authentic downtown while browsing through sidewalk sales as you head to the Taste festival.

The Taste prides itself with offering family-friendly entertainment in a safe, clean environment. Shopping, dining, carnival rides, singing and dancing make up just a few ways you’ll have fun at Antioch’s Taste of Summer. Food booths open at noon each day, so bring your appetites.

Shopping around Antioch’s town-wide sidewalk sales is a must for the savvy shopper. Carnival hours vary, so please check the entertainment schedule. Carnival wristband specials are available for Thursday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. For additional information, visit the Antioch Chamber website at www.antiochchamber.org or call the chamber office at (847) 395-2233. A fantastic array of foods

The Taste of Summer Festival brings an opportunity for Antioch restaurants to bring their great food outdoors. Through the years, the Taste has grown. It brings in even more delicacies to the community. Food booths offer a fantastic array of foods and drinks featuring Mexican, Chinese, American, BBQ and many others that will delight people with discriminating tastes. Wander under the big top tents while enjoying the many delightful delicacies and entertainment.

New food contest

Pig out at Antioch’s Taste of Summer with a new food contest designed to give adults a chance to prove they are Antioch’s biggest eater. Get ready to pig out on chicken wings this year. On Thursday, July 15, Jerry’s Rock N Roll Drive In will sponsor a Chicken Wing Eating Contest from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. This contest is limited to six participants of 18 years and older. Interested participants should be at the Bandshell by 6 p.m. for your chance to prove you are Antioch’s Biggest Eater and win some fun prizes. All interested participants will be given a number, and six lucky contestants will be drawn.

Entertainment for all ages

The entertainment schedule is jam-packed this year. Hi-Infidelity will perform July 15, from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Additional headline entertainment includes Pirates Over 40, performing Thursday, July 14 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Antioch proudly welcomes back American English on Sunday, July 17, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. A meet-and-greet follows and ends at 5:30 p.m.

Antioch’s own Mike Lescher will perform Thursday and Sunday, plus Antioch’s High School Jazz Band will perform on Saturday afternoon.

BBI LIVE is also back this year. BBI is a long-time favorite of Taste of Summer enthusiasts. BBI LIVE will be performing Saturday, July 16 from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

New Taste entertainment includes a Princess and Pirate Party for the kids on Thursday, July 14 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Kids may dress in costumes and enjoy pirate-and-princess-worthy games. The pirates and princesses will march in the Pirate and Princess Parade that afternoon as part of the judging for their costume contest. On Friday afternoon, children will enjoy interactive game fun with DJ Bob from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. New entertainment also includes the music of Midnight Outlaws on Saturday, July 16 from noon until 2 p.m. and Mezmurized on Thursday, July 14 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Parents and grandparents can enjoy afternoon Bingo under the big top dining tent.
