“When looking for the right health-care facility to deliver your new bundle of joy, it is important to know that advance medical care and services are available in case the need should arise,” said Michelle Cherry, R. N., BSN, nurse manager, Community Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/Nursery.

Community Hospital’s Family Birthing Center includes a Level III nursery with extended neonatal capabilities, advanced monitoring equipment, technology and techniques. It is the only Northwest Indiana hospital with board-certified neonatologists - affiliated with the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital - in-house, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

They are supported by Community Hospital’s skilled team of neonatal nurses and respiratory, occupational, physical and speech therapists to provide intensive intervention for infants with special medical needs. All of these services will soon be located within the hospital’s new tower, opening in July, 2014.

The Family Birthing Center at St. Catherine Hospital features a home-like environment perfect for this special time in the lives of families.
