Keeping the kids amused
Twirling: Carnival rides are just one of several ways kids can enjoy themselves at Irish Fest, running for four days over Memorial Day weekend at Gaelic Park in Oak Forest. | File photo
Between the musical acts, the vendor tents and Irish dance contests, there’s plenty for adults coming to Irish Fest, but the little ones have not been forgotten. A host of activities are targeted for young children making their way to Gaelic Park in Oak Forest over the Memorial Day weekend. Among these are:
Unlimited carnival rides
This year we brought back many of our popular attractions in the form of carnival rides. The Irish Fest offers four days of unlimited rides (for the cost of an admission ticket) on the best carnival attraction in the country!
Children’s petting zoo and free pony rides
A petting zoo (often called, or part of, a “children’s zoo”) features a combination of domestic animals and some wild species that are docile enough to touch and feed. In addition to independent petting zoos, also called children’s farms or petting farms, many general zoos contain a petting zoo. Chicago Gaelic Park has always been focused on the family and this is a major draw for the children. Children can also enjoy free pony rides.
Children’s entertainment tent
Chicago Gaelic Park prides ourselves in being a family-oriented festival and so we have many activities geared not only for the kids but for the entire family. Irish culture and just plain fun abounds for the family in storytelling, dance, plays and music. Magic shows have been known to astound even the moms and dads. Check out the Children’s Tent schedule for a great day.
