Holiday feasts in Chicago’s south suburbs

Anyone looking for a full meal with all the trimmings to celebrate the holiday season need not look any further than the south suburbs. Several restaurants in the area are putting out a spread for Christmas, New Years Eve or all through the month. Among these are:

Blarney Stone Pub, 15400 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forest

From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, the Blarney Stone Pub will offer a five-hour premium bar package, a dinner buffet, a DJ, party favors and a champagne toast. The buffet will offer three entrees, potato and salad. Price is $50 per person. Reservations are needed in advance at (708) 535-4800.

DoubleTree by Hilton and Allgauer’s Restaurant, 5000 W. 127th St., Alsip

A Christmas Day champagne brunch will have reservations on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hotel’s Forest Ballroom. Among the items on the brunch menu are: Leg of lamb, ham, prime rib, pork loin roulade, beef stroganoff, smoked salmon, and chicken scallopini with lemon caper sauce. Side dishes include green beans almondine, garlic mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, a variety of salads and more. The brunch will also feature breakfast items such as eggs Benedict, an omelet station, and French toast with cinnamon apple compote. Desserts, champagne and soft drinks will also be offered. Louie’s Chophouse, 4642 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn

Louie’s plans on running specials during the entire month of December, including: A T-bone steak with soup or salad, potato, vegetable and dessert for $27; Estancia Cabernet and Pinot Noir for $7 a glass and $27 a bottle; Bonus gift cards that offer a $25 bonus for every $100 spent. Mama Luigi’s, 7500 S. Harlem Ave, Bridgeview

Revelers will get a dinner and a show from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. New Year’s Eve in the Florentine Room. The night features cash bar cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 7:30 p.m. followed by an 8:30 p.m. dinner that includes soup, salad, filet mignon medallions and chicken breast Vesuvio (or salmon on request), baked potato, vegetable, bread and bruschetta, and gelato for dessert. Entertainment will be “rockin’ oldies tribute artist” Mike Valentine, along with The Valentine Singers and Ginger Ling as “Cher.” The price is $40 per person. Tickets are at (708) 496-0900.

Nikos, 7600 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview

From noon to 5 p.m., Nikos offers a Christmas Day buffet featuring several types of salads, a roasting station offering turkey and prime rib, a hot station with lamb, roast pork, roast chicken, salmon, pasta primavera, spinach pie, potatoes, stuffing and garden vegetables. The buffet also serves up seven types of desserts. Prices are $25.95 for adults and $15.95 for children under 12.

The restaurant’s New Year’s Eve Gala starting at 7 p.m. will include: a DJ and the band Scarlett Fever; an open bar; hot appetizers; a dinner of filet mignon and chicken combo, and wine; party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.
