Shrewd shoppers seek out the best in their region.

Ever wonder what hamburger joint offers the tastiest burger? What landscaper does the nicest job manicuring our lawns? What business offers the coolest place to find materials for our hobbies? Who has the nicest amenities at their spa?

The2011 SouthtownStar Best of Chicago’s Southland, a listing that will answer not only these questions but do the same in about 70 other categories as well.

“All the feedback we receive year after year is positive and all businesses look forward to the results,” said John Doolin, advertising manager for the Southtown Star.

Doolin sees the promotional contest as a win-win situation for SouthtownStar readers as well as for the businesses in the newspaper’s region.

“The ‘Best of’ let’s readers cast a vote for their favorite in 70 different categories, and (the section in the SouthtownStar) let’s businesses reach out to their customers — our readers — and showcase their goods and or services.”

Count among the 2011 winners some longtime businesses that have been named in multiple “Best of” contests, including: Ciao Ristorante in Palos Hills, Graff Gardens in Worth, Palos Hills Golf Club and Saunoris Garden Center in Chicago Ridge.

“We appreciate the support we’ve had and we’re proud to have served the southwest suburbs for 70 years,” said Randy Saunoris, manager of the Saunoris location in Chicago Ridge. “Such recognition helps and we appreciate those who voted for us. We look forward to a prosperous future.”

Others are enjoying their first experience of being named one of the most liked businesses in the Southland, such as Chuck’s Southern Comfort Cafe in Bridgeview, named in the Best Ribs category.

“It’s great to know that our customers voted for us — those who have been our loyal fans for years with many more to come,” said Chuck Pine, owner and executive chef at the eatery.

In addition to being listed in this special section, those named in the contest receive a framed certificate and a window cling proclaiming them winners in the “SouthtownStar Best of Chicago’s Southland - 2011” to place at their business location.

Thanks for voting. See you next year!
