School’s out: perfect time to schedule a physical

Sponsored

When you are making plans for summer fun, a visit to the pediatrician’s office is probably not high on your list. However, it is a good thing to get on the calendar, particularly if your child needs a school physical or sports physical before school starts.

Regular check-ups allow your doctor to review your child’s growth and development, perform tests, and assess your child’s overall health. They are also a great time for you to ask questions, such as “is my son eating enough?” or “what can I do to help my daughter sleep better?”

Another important piece of your child’s health is keeping immunizations up to date. Many serious childhood diseases can be prevented by immunizations. If your child wasn’t immunized according to schedule during infancy, your pediatrician can advise you on the best way to catch up. Children entering kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades are required to be up to date on their immunizations before starting school.
