A Heart for Animals, Inc. (AHFA) is a 501(c)3, foster-based, animal-welfare organization that believes every animal deserves a loving home.

All of the animals are in foster care meaning they are being taken care of by volunteers, in their own homes. This is great for the animals as they can learn how to love and to be loved in the comfort of a loving foster home. The foster families know their foster animal the best, so when an adopter applies for one of our animals, they get to speak directly to the foster home to learn about the animal. This makes our adoptions successful as the adopter does not have to guess how an animal may react at home and adopters can be prepared for any special needs.

A Heart for Animals has no paid staff; ALL are volunteers. Your donation goes directly to helping the animals.

AHFA is based in Huntley, but A Heart for Animals has volunteers and foster homes all over the greater Chicago area to southern Wisconsin to Springfield and all the way west to Dixon.

Animals come to the organization from a variety of situations. Some are from kill shelters in Chicago, southern Illinois, Kentucky and other states. It also take owner surrenders. A Heart for Animals can only save as many animals as it has foster homes, and it is in desperate need of foster homes. A Heart for Animals provides the medical care and food for the foster animals. The foster homes provide the housing and the love. Will you help save a life today by fostering?

Adoption fees include 30 days of free pet insurance that the adopter may extend at a low monthly cost, spay/neuter, heartworm test, fecal test and any meds if needed, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, collar, leash, rescue id tag flea/tick preventative while in our foster care program.
